Cyber Essentials is a Government backed scheme which provides a foundation of measures that organisations can implement and build upon to significantly reduce business vulnerability from cyber threats. It does not remove all cyber security risk, but it does define a focused set of controls that provide cost-effective cyber security for organisations of all sizes which also adheres to GDPR requirements.
The five technical controls include:
- Preventing unauthorised access with boundary firewalls
- Setting up systems securely using secure configurations
- Restricting access to those who need it with user access control
- Using anti-virus software as malware protection
- Updating software for patch management
The Curve Group’s IT Partner Mirus IT supported the certification process – commenting on the recent certification Darren Challender, Head of Professional Services of Mirus IT stated that “It was a pleasure working with The Curve Group to certify them with Cyber Essentials. The whole process was made simpler due to the businesses decision to take Cyber Security seriously and implement continuous improvements to protect their own and their client’s data in line with GDPR.”
